Nice beach, pity about the construction

After arriving at Haad Son Resort on Sept 18, 2007, the photos below show what greeted us. We decided to stay elsewhere and had a delightful time at Sunset Cove Resort just a few minutes away and far more attractive.

To get to Haad Son's beach, guests need to walk through this gate, past the construction crews living quarters, past piles of construction material and rubbish heaps. We did not think our daughters would be comfortable doing this, especially walking past construction workers cooking, eating and washing. This is not what we expected for 2150 Baht per room per night.

Piles of construction materials, and rubbish heap at the bottom of the steps to the beach (near boat).

Rubbish pile
Construction worker on the way to the beach. Behind him were several others sitting around eating and washing. Our son and daughters would feel like they were on parade every time they wanted to go to the beach. We would have felt the need to go with them every time.
